Meet Aleisha Hart –
2007 SAF Model Search Figure Model Winner
Last month, we featured Maya
Avelino, the winner of the Fitness Model category at the first SAF Model Search. The
event was held on June 15. However, the SAF Model Search doesn’t just feature one
category, there are two: Fitness Model and Figure Model.
So, while Maya won the Fitness Model title in a convincing
fashion, beautiful Aleisha Hart did the same thing in the Figure Model category. In fact,
when Aleisha walked onstage for the first time that evening, many repeated what they had
said when Maya first appeared: "She’s going to be hard to beat." Aleisha
looked stunning, winning the competition with unanimous first-place votes from the judges.
Thirty-year-old Aleisha Hart was born and raised in
Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, and still lives there today. Aleisha has a history of sports and
physical activities – she was a competitive gymnast when she was young and she’s
competed in martial arts competitions for 15 years. According to Aleisha, "Working
out and being in shape has always been part of my lifestyle. It's a true passion of
mine and it's something that I really enjoy."
However, sports are not her only activities. Aleisha also
has a successful background in modeling, which she described to me when I talked to her in
July: "I started modeling and competing in swimwear competitions in 2000 after
winning the Ms. Venus Ontario competition. I competed as a world finalist in Jacksonville,
Florida. After receiving several contracts with Venus Swimwear, Waimea Gold tanning
products, Florida Power Boat Club, and Fox Network (as a spokesmodel), I started getting
more involved in the modeling industry. I competed at the Molson Indy for Hawaiian
Tropic in 2002, and I was selected to be an extra in the movie Driven. These
avenues of competition and exposure have given me many opportunities as well as the drive
to continue competing and being successful at what I love to do."
More recently, Aleisha has also become involved in
competitive figure, something else she’s very successful at. Aleisha explains her
motivation for trying this competitive path: "Figure is a sport I wanted to get
involved in for some time. In 2005, I competed at the OPA Ontario National qualifier
with no real understanding of the sport, but more or less to give me an idea of what
it was about. I placed fifth at this event; I knew I needed some direction to do this
again. However, I had definitely found a new passion that I wanted to pursue and I wanted
to do well at it. So, I was introduced to my current trainer, Laura Binetti, after
this event. She gave me the tools and direction I needed to be successful in this sport.
After getting the proper diet plan and training program, I was all set for the 2006
season. In 2006, I won the Overall title at the OPA Northern Ontario Figure Championships,
I placed first in my class at the OPA National Qualifier, and I placed third at the OPA
Ontario Provincial Figure Championships. This was definitely rewarding for me; the
results were worth all my dedication and hard work. I competed at the CBBF National
World Qualifier in June of this year and placed second. This event qualified me for the
IFBB North American Championships. Right now, though, I am taking this opportunity to set
new goals and compete again next year. This will allow me to train hard for
another year in order to improve so I can do my best at the North Americans."
Obviously, winning the Figure Model category at the 2007
SAF Model Search was another huge accomplishment for her. Aleisha explains how she heard
about the event and why she decided to compete: "I was introduced to
SeriousAboutFittness.com through a close friend who had mentioned that there was a
competition running in June. I went, and I won the Figure Model category, which was very
exciting for me. Wow! Being a SeriousAboutFitness.com model definitely represents who I
am. It’s a great way to share what you’re about and what you believe in."
Like fellow winner Maya Avelino, Aleisha Hart possesses the
positive, athletic, healthy, and attractive appearance that our readers enjoying seeing.
Furthermore, Aleisha, like the rest of our SAF Elite models, has a strong sense of
direction about what she wants to achieve. As a result, we believe that Aleisha is an
outstanding role model for women’s health and fitness. Because of that, we’re
