The organizers and promoters of the event have the right to disqualify any competitors whose outfit they deem is inappropriate for public display.

Restrictions

  • Competitors can compete in either the Fitness Model or Figure Model category, but cannot compete in both categories at one event.
  • Competitors must place in the top three at an Open competition to qualify for Elite-level events.
  • Elite competitors cannot compete in Open competitions.

Onstage presentation requirements (both categories)

  • At the beginning of each category round, the MC will announce each competitor individually and the competitor will be announced to the judges and audience. As the competitor is being announced, they will be asked to walk to center stage. When the competitor is at center stage, she may choose to turn to all four sides, posing in a manner than is most flattering for her physique (there are no mandatory poses when standing to each side). After the competitor has presented themself to the audience, they will walk to the back of the stage and take their place in line with the other competitors as the remaining competitors present themselves on the stage. When all competitors have been presented individually and are lined up, they will all be moved forward in the stage for the next stage of the round.

  • During each category round, all competitors will remain lined up on the stage at all times. Competitors may be called out in groups ranging from two to five competitors (this is at the discretion of the judges) and asked to come to the front of the stage for comparisons. When at the front of the stage, the competitors will be instructed to turn to all four sides (front, left side, rear, right side) so that the judges can assess their appearance more closely. Competitors should take note that there are no mandatory poses, even when asked to turn to each side. Rather, when facing the direction indicated, competitors are encouraged to stand in a way that is the most flattering for their physique and overall appearance.

  • Important tip! Whether it's at the beginning of each round, or in the comparisons during each round, it's important that competitors understand that their physiques are not the only thing being judged. The SAF Model Search judges will be seeking a healthy, fit and attractive appearance that not only includes the physique, but the overall look of each competitor as well. Therefore, it's important for competitors project a positive, vibrant, confident image in their faces and in the way they present themselves while they're onstage. Competitors will be judged on the "total package" that they present (judging criteria is outlined below).

Footwear

  • Footwear is required for both the Fitness Model and Figure Model competition. There are no restrictions on styling, heel height, etc. The only condition is that the footwear does not put the competitor, or any other competitor, at risk of injury.

Tanning products and oils

  • Due to the bright onstage lights, most competitors will choose to tan, or wear and artificial-type tanning product to make their skin tone darker. This is fine. However, plesae be advised that it will not be necessary to display a very-dark tan or apply copious amounts of oil-type products as is often seen in figure and fitness contests. The judges will simply be looking for healthy, attractive-looking skin tone.

Judging criteria

  • Below are details to help you understanding what it is the judges at our event will be looking for. They are simply a guide. Furthermore, to help you better understand what it is that our current and future SAF Elite models possess, we recommend reading the following: "Meet Our Girls of SAF and Learn How You Might Become the Next One!" in SeriousAboutFitness.com.

The judges will be looking for competitors who possess the following attributes:

    • A healthy, fit and attractive feminine appearance -- this includes the physique as well as the facial area and overall presentation. SAF judges will look at the "total package."
    • A toned physique that's the result of a proper training program, but not to the point where the competitors would be considered "muscular."
    • A certain degree of leanness, but not to the point where the competitor would be considered "ripped."
    • Natural beauty and physique development that can be attained through exercise and proper nutrition, not through artificial-type means such as drugs.
    • Pleasing skin tone -- not too dark, not too light (artificial tanning products are fine to use; just not excessively).
    • Confident and pleasant onstage presentation.
    • An overall look that photographs well and can be used to demonstrate a positive lifestyle that's brought about through proper exercise and nutrition.

  • Please note: the above criteria is just a guideline and the judges will also be looking for distinctiveness and uniqueness in their judging. We obviously have key criteria in mind, but we're also aware that everyone's unique. After all, currently we have five SAF Elite models as part of our team, and not two look exactly alike!
