SAF stands for Serious About Fitness. It began in 2001 as a single website containing only articles and photographs and catering mostly to fitness competitors. Of course, the website was called SeriousAboutFitness.com, just as it is today.
That was just the beginning. I knew from the start that the SAF brand and the concept of promoting women’s health and fitness could become much more than just one website. SAF has the potential to embody everything that's positive about women's fitness: health, athleticism, beauty, improved well-being, and more. I also knew that SAF had the ability to inspire many women, regardless of age or athletic experience, to achieve their dreams and goals.
As a result, SAF has expanded beyond just written articles and photos and now promotes its own competitions (SAFCompetitions.com) and fitness camps (SAFCamps.com), in addition to producing videos (SAFTelevision.com) and other media projects. It's also a place where the women on our team can express themselves to a worldwide audience: GirlsofSAF.com features the journals of our SAF Elite Pro stars.
But we're not just about giving out information. We have also coached competitors and written articles about the results on SeriousAboutFitness.com (12 national and international titles in fitness, figure and bodybuilding), and we’ve worked directly with other media outlets, including magazines and television programs, in order to generate amazing exposure for SAF and our team of SAF Elite Pro stars. Our SAF team has appeared in television commercials and has made appearances on various talk shows. We also work with industry leaders such as Paul Buceta, the world's finest fitness photographer, who now photographs our top-ranked SAF Elite Pro stars. Our work never stops, because the potential of what SAF can become is enormous.

SAF still directs quite a bit of its energy toward competitions and competitors, but a significant amount of effort now goes to content that can help any woman get into the best shape of her life regardless of her age and whether or not she’d ever like to compete. Simply read our articles or watch our videos, or attend our camps and competitions, and you’ll see the broad mix of information that can help almost women reach their goals, which is exactly why the SeriousAboutFitness.com website is called a "A Complete Resource for Active Women."
This latest version of SeriousAboutFitness.com was launched in February 2011. The artwork for this site was created by Karen Fanas, our art director, who has been part of the SAF team since the beginning and knows the SAF ideals well. The goals with its creation include creating a state-of-the-art online resource for women, competitors and non-competitors alike, and to tie together the broad range of products and resources that are now part of the SAF brand.
