The Summer '09 SAF Model Search is
Here!
The Summer ’09 SAF Model Search will take place on
June 20, and it’s going to be one of the best women’s events of the year. There
are three competitions – two "Open" division categories (Fitness Model and
Figure Model), plus the invitation-only SAF Elite Championship. There will be plenty of
prizes for the participants, cash for the first-place winners, and, for those in the
"Open" categories, the chance to become part of the SAF Elite.
But it isn’t just the prizes and incentives that make
the SAF Model Search such a great competition to be in. If you consider some of the women
who have competed with us – Natalie Waples, Vanda Hadarean, Allison Ethier, to name a
few – you realize that our SAF competitions feature the best of the best. However,
it’s not a competition only for accomplished, seasoned veterans. For some women, it
has been their very first competition, and they have walked away as winners.
For example, Elissa Molino, who is featured on our cover
this month, was a novice in the Fall ’08 SAF Model Search show. She’d never done
a fitness modeling competition before and didn’t even know if she’d belong. Her
lack of experience didn’t hurt her, though. Elissa won the Figure Model category at
the Fall ‘08 show and now she’s one of 12 women who will be competing in this
year’s SAF Elite Championship!
The Summer ’09 event will start at 2 p.m. and be
finished by 5 p.m. Our goal is to have a show that runs briskly and professionally,
keeping the excitement level high from beginning to end.
The MCs for this show will once again be Mindi
O’Brien, Canada’s number-one professional fitness competitor, and Cindy Van
Empel-Popowich, an accomplished fitness model and event promoter. Mindi has been the MC at
every SAF event we’ve had and Cindy joined our onstage team at the Summer ’08
show. The two of them work together fabulously and make the event a lot of fun.
We’ve been looking forward to the Summer ’09 SAF
Model Search for a long time now, and it is finally here. On June 20, six more women will
become part of the SAF Elite (the top three in Figure Model and the top three in Fitness
Model) and a new SAF Elite Champion will be crowned. It will be a day to remember, so make
sure you don’t miss it. We hope to see you there.
