Welcome!
Its midnight Friday -- the start of the Canada Day
long weekend. Yes, it's July -- and I know I should be relaxing -- but we've started to
create this site many months before its actual launch. Believe me, it's a lot of work --
but I think it's worth it.
Today, I managed to make it through my morning cardio
session, worked my "real" day job, squeezed in a quick workout, was late for my
part-time job, and am finally almost ready for bed. Thats right, I said almost. I
still have to make my meals for tomorrow.
When I first decided to take up fitness, this "typical
day" was not exactly what I had in mind. Im not sure what I expected -- maybe
that fitness modeling would take care of my bigger bills so I wouldnt have to work
at a "real" job anymore. Needless to say, like many of you who have been
competing for years, Im still very much the proud owner of a full-time job, with
real business hours, who has to pay way-too-much income tax every two weeks. But also like
you -- despite my nonexistent multimillion-dollar modeling contract -- Im just as
passionate about the sport as ever.
I dont think there is an actual definition about what
distinguishes serious fitness competitors from everyone else -- except to say that we are
an exclusive group of women who find something very satisfying about the sport. That, or
we are a borderline obsessive cult of chicks that see "cheat days" as a much
under-celebrated event. Either way, if you are serious about fitness -- you will be able
to find something on this site that will help you understand more about your chosen
lifestyle.
SAF is simply what the name says -- serious about
fitness. You will get the straight facts from other people who are just as serious
about fitness as you are -- plain and simple.
The content will be based on standards set by the CBBF (the governing body for amateur
fitness competition in Canada) and the IFBB
(the governing body for amateur and professional fitness worldwide), but the information
will be universal. I know there are other resources out there, but there is nothing
exclusively designed for fitness competitors. Think of this site as data bank,
specifically for you. Im sure you will agree -- if the sport is going to continue to
evolve, its about time we had a site like this.
